Description:
The Commercial Sales Director, Japan is a leader responsible for the full P&L, strategic direction, and market performance of PXG in Japan. This role leads and integrates all commercial channels—including Direct-to-Consumer (DTC), Wholesale, and Retail—while building a high-performing organization to accelerate brand growth and market share.
The Commercial Sales Director will oversee sales, and retail execution, whilst working with operations and marketing to ensure a seamless, premium customer experience across all touchpoints. As a key member of the International Leadership Team, this role partners closely with global stakeholders to align on strategy while tailoring execution to the Japanese market.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Market Development
- Own and deliver the Japan market strategy, including 3–5 year commercial and operational planning across DTC, Wholesale, and Retail
- Identify and capitalize on growth opportunities based on deep understanding of Japanese market trends, consumer behaviour, and competitive landscape
- Strengthen PXG’s brand positioning and market presence in Japan
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing, cohesive team across commercial, retail, and marketing functions, fostering strong collaboration, accountability, and a unified culture.
Commercial Performance (DTC, Wholesale & Retail)
- Lead all revenue-generating channels, including:
- E-commerce and digital (DTC)
- Wholesale partnerships and distribution
- Owned retail stores and experiential formats
- Ensure alignment and optimization across channels to maximize total market performance
- Drive retail excellence, including store performance, customer experience, and operational standards
Financial Ownership
- Full ownership of Japan P&L, including budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation
- Ensure efficient investment across marketing, retail, and commercial functions to deliver strong ROI
Brand & Marketing Leadership
- Work with International and in-country marketing resource to ensure campaign execution, product launches, and go-to-market strategies.
- Drive brand awareness and demand generation through locally relevant marketing strategies
- Ensure consistency of global brand standards across all communications and consumer touchpoints
Team & Capability Building
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing local team across commercial, retail, and marketing functions
- Recruit and manage external partners, agencies, and key stakeholders
- Foster a strong performance culture aligned with PXG values
Market Intelligence & Competitive Strategy
- Lead market research and analysis to inform strategic decisions and forecasting
- Monitor competitive activity and develop effective counterstrategies
Experience & Education
- 5+ years of senior leadership experience
- Proven track record managing multi-channel businesses (DTC, Wholesale, Retail)
- Prior experience in the golf, sports, or premium/luxury consumer goods industry preferred
- Fluency in both English and Japanese
