Job Description

The Support Technician works independently and directly with employees to resolve technical problems in an accurate and timely manner. The ideal candidate will be experienced in maintaining and troubleshooting basic workstation and networking functions as well as work efficiently with employees and technical staff (internal and external).

Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and resolve desktop and server platform issues
  • Install, configure, and support workstations, network computers, printers, and other peripheral equipment as well as configure broadband equipment within the scope of work and time frame identified
  • Track remote monitoring data while identifying potential problems and solutions for clients
  • Install, configure, and maintain common end-user application software; May be required to train and provide assistance to end users
  • Work independently, think analytically, and identify the best fit solution
  • Communicate effectively, both written and oral with co-workers and various business vendors in a courteous and professional manner
  • Work completely and accurately under time constraints and deadlines
  • Read, analyze, and interpret technical documents and reports
  • Other duties and projects assigned by Lead Technician and/or IT Director

Experience and Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in IT or 1-2 years equivalent work experience in a technical help desk or client-facing technical support role
  • Basic PC Hardware knowledge and troubleshooting experience

Skills:

  • Proficiency in MS Office applications – Office 365 a plus
  • Proficiency with the XP Platform, Windows 7 and above 
  • Strong customer orientation and passion to solve technical issues in a professional, flexible and service-oriented manner
  • Conversant with a variety of industry tools such as: remote access tools, managed services software, incident-based processing software, backup/restore processes, help desk software, Internet search engines, Internet technical resource sites
  • Demonstrated ability to support desktop technologies
  • Apple Mac experience is a plus
